The orthodontist assistant broke the top left and bottom right part of my porcelain bracket and went ahead and wired up my braces anyway. It is a week later and my mouth has become very sore/irritated/cut in that location. I called the office today to see when they can replace the bracket and she got on the phone and told me that has nothing to do with my sore/irritated/cut mouth. Is she just saying this to cover herself? I've NEVER had a problem with that location before and I've had my braces for four months.

  1. if theres a sharp bit of bracket there, it sure could be irritating your mouth, If it is because your bracket has some sharp broken edges either get your orthodontist to replace the bracket or smooth it down a bit.

Having said that, even though you havn't had trouble over the last four months, braces can irritate your mouth, and this can be helped by putting dental wax over the irritating parts.
