  1. I'm on the same road.  It depends where you are, but here in CA, AVERAGE pay differs tremendously on area.

    SF - for HS, about $30k/year,  CC, about $45k/yr, uni - $65k+/yr

rural areas north of SF:   Hs - ~$25k/yr, CC ~$38k/yr.....

  2. I don't know what the average salary is. I would guess $50 or $60 thousand. However, those in the "sciences" type fields can make up to $120 thousand or more. I will tell you as an Education professor, you will be on the low end of the professor pay scale.

Also, a masters is good at the com. coll level to be an assistant, associate, or regular professor. You can only be an adjunct or instructor at the university with a masters. That is why I am finishing up my doctorate. I dream of academia and wish to teach at a four year university.

  3. Your best bet is to check out the free portion of http://www.salary.com here you can simply list the occupation, your skills and the city/state you want to research. What you will see is a bell curve showing the lowest average to the highest average for that occupation in that city/state. I've used it a number of times and have found it to be very accurate.

    Hope that helps
