Akram suggested some safety measures to avert such scandals in the future. According to him, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should educate all the players properly and monitor their social ties keenly, especially when they go to play abroad.
The former left-arm bowler achieved 414 and 502 wickets in 104 Test and 356 ODI matches respectively during his 19-year career. He retired from international cricket in 2003.
Wasim’s sympathetic remarks are a source of solace for the tainted players, who often express annoyance over not getting sufficient support from the PCB and their people.
