I read the book but i need to know about the setting...how does it affect the tone

  1. If you read the book, then you know where it took place. That's the setting. Be it a farm, a school, a city, a bedroom, etc., the place where the action is is the setting. A setting can affect the tone of a story by setting a mood. For example, a dark jail cell could have a either a threatening or gloomy tone.
