The beijing olympic gold medal?

can anyone tell me why the beijing gold medal is so special? i heard it was some how different than previous gold medals.

On the backside of the medal The Chinese Designer has inlaid a different type of Rare Jade in each of the 3 types of Medals Gold, Silver and Bronze respectfully.

There is also a Dragon engraved in the center of the Medal.

These elements make the Medals unique to the Chinese Culture and both the Jade and the Dragon hold significance symbolizing honor and virtue.
