Question:

The best Caribbean destination?

My boyfriend and I are planning our first trip to Caribbean this summer. We’re looking for great beaches, snorkeling, beautiful views. So many destinations and all look good on-line...Cancun and Riviera Maya seem to be cheaper than the Islands. Is there a catch?

  1. In my opinion, the islands of St. Kitts and Nevis are perfect for what you want.  They are both very laid back, and not nearly as "touristy" as the US Virgin Islands.  English is the language spoken.  There are plenty of snorkeling sites on both islands.  The currency is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar, but US dollars are accepted everywhere.  Also the EC Dollar is tied to the US Dollar so the spiraling decline of the US Dollar will not effect you.

The people are warm and friendly, and there is very little crime compared with other islands.  Summer is the off season so rates on hotels or even rental villas are about half price.  Hurricane season does not really kick in until the latter half of August for SKN.

I have been to most of the islands in The Caribbean, but have returned to Nevis 21 times...if that gives you a hint about how much I like this paradise.

So you see you really get two islands for the price of 1.

Have fun wherever you go, and bring sunscreen :)

  2. My husband I thought Aruba was the best.

  3. St. John, US Virgin Islands. Perfect for a first trip. Such a beautiful island, here are some pics

  4. I have been to quite a few of the islands and one of my favorites is grand cayman.  its very clean and the shop keepers are not allowed to bug you on the street (something you will get non stop in any Mexican stop).  There are a lot of the comforts of home and wonderful free beaches.  I also didn't worry about leaving my stuff on the beach while i went snorkeling.  also if you do go check out the turtle farm and the sting ray encounters!
