  1. The largest wind energy company is not in the U S.  It is in Denmark.

Vestas Wind Systems.  You can buy the shares on the pink sheet.

  2. I don't know about the best, but I like BWEN.OB (yahoo symbol)

The have put together a good team and group of businesses.

  3. right now, I believe that Florida Power and Light have the largest amount invested in US wind farms.  but keep in mind that if you buy stock in FPL, they have many many times more invested in nuclear, and coald and gas fired plants.

i'm not sure how many domestic pure-play wind farm companies there are right now.  From News Blaze:

The world wind turbine market is dominated by 10 major companies which control almost 100% of the market: Vestas (34%), Gamesa (18%), Enercon (15%), GE Wind (11%), Siemens (6%), Suzlon (4%), REpower (3%), Mitsubishi (2%), Ecotècnia (2%) and Nordex (2%).

Our analysts continue to believe the two largest wind turbine companies, Vestas (VWS.CO) and Gamesa (GAM.MC) remain good long term investments, along with the smaller companies that have room to grow: REpower (RPW.BE), Nordex (NDX.DE), and Clipper (CWP.L). On the wind farm developer side, they like such companies as Acciona (ANA.MC), Novera (NVE.L) and Boralex (BLX-A.TO).

Says David Shoenwald, President, New Alternatives Fund, "The companies I like best are independent utilities; they develop and own the wind farms and then, rather than selling them, they market the electricity. Canadian Hydro Developers (KHD.TO) is an example."

most of these are foreign companies.

  4. I'm 16 and not totally on top of the specifics of the Wall Street private sector game...but I think it's brilliant that you're investing in wind energy companies. If more people invested in the fundamental development of infrastructure and science rather than in Wal-Mart and Google we might have a better world. Investing in ANY wind energy company is infinitely better than Exxon. Now is probably a good time to invest, oil prices have been on the decline so the teeming masses think the oil crisis is getting better...it'll be good to own shares of WindCo. USA when oil catapults again. Don't be discouraged if it seems alternative energy companies stocks are on the decline, again, it only mirrors the decline in oil/gas prices which will continue into the next presidency, which will probably be subsidized in order to win approval ratings, regardless of who wins...god I hate politics of the past.

And then whoever wins will invest federal money in the private sector for new energies...which will make the stocks go up as well as the market follows politics. Can you say..$$$?

But I digress, it isn't about the money. Invest in wind! Vote for the person you think can invest federal aid in long term energy solutions that get us THE h**l AWAY from fossil fuel energy!

Best of wishes, and sincere thanks!
