The best and worst of 72 hour kits?

Question

I have a few lists of things to include in an emergency 72 hour kit, but I want some opinions on what can be the best things to have and the things that really are over hyped. If we were in a situation where we needed to use ours, what would we:

1) be extremely glad that we had

2) be extremely disappointed that we didn't have

3) that wasn't usually suggested but that we would have wanted

4) that is usually suggested but that we didn't need?

Any opinions or advice would be great!
