The best free kick takers who could potentially be on the move
All the major European leagues are now just a month or so away from commencing. Many of the teams have made most of the transfers that they wanted to. However a player that every team would always like to have playing for them is a good free kick taker, a player who can create something special out of a dead ball situation. Here is a look at the best free kick takers who could potentially be on the move before the start of the new season.
Craig Bellamy hasn’t taken many free kicks during his stay at the Eastlands, however that doesn’t mean he can’t produce from them if given the opportunity. He has fallen out of favour at Manchester City even though he has easily been one of their best performers this last term. He is currently being linked with a move to Tottenham which could be completed as soon as next week. It might be safe to see that we will be seeing Bellamy at any team other than City this coming season.
One of the most pursued and wanted players over the course of the last couple of seasons is Frank Ribery. He is always being linked with a move away from Bayern Munich and this season the story hasn’t changed either. He has been linked with a move to Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid. One of the main reasons that he is being pursued is due to his ability to create magic from set pieces. He manages to deliver a dangerous ball no matter where on the field he takes his free kick from. It wouldn’t be shocking if this was the year the French man finally made the jump to a different team after constantly knocking back interests from other teams over the past season.
South Africa’s start player and Everton’s player of the season has turned into a drama queen. The player has been signalling to the club over the course of the last couple of months that he is going to leave them if they refuse to increase his wages. The possibilities of him leaving have started to become less likely as time has progressed but there is still a chance that he might leave. All of that aside, he is still one of the best free kick takers out there at the moment and no matter what team he plays for he would be amongst the first few choices of players who would be handling the set pieces.
Keisuke Honda showed everyone in the World Cup 2010, as to just how good he is. He has ever since constantly been linked with a move away from Russia. Honda managed to score one of the best free kicks at the World Cup and his ability has been noted by some of Europe’s elite teams. He is currently being linked with Arsenal and AC Milan, but Milan have already shown a much stronger interest in signing the player and the player has also admitted that he would love to play for the Italian giants. It would be amazing to see just what Honda will do at Milan next season if the deal does manage to take place.
