  1. I have a Cuisinart ice cream maker and I love it. Cuisinart consistently gets good ratings by their customers.

I make ice cream about once every week so my ice cream maker gets a good workout! It's 2 years old now!

The commercial quality ice cream makers do produce a better ice cream. They're able to freeze the ice cream more consistently. This produces a softer more ...well...commercial quality ice cream! The lower end ice cream makers do make great ice cream though.

So I guess it comes down to - how picky ice cream eaters are you and your family? and how much will you make ice cream? If you're picky ice cream eaters or plan on making a lot of ice cream - I'd go for the more expensive ice cream makers. If any ice cream tastes good and if you only plan to make ice cream every once an a while a cheaper ice cream maker will do you just fine.

The ice cream makers that don't have a freezer bowl have the added bonus of being able to make continual batches of ice cream without having to wait for your freezer bowl to refreeze inbetween batches. Just another thing to think about when choosing an ice cream maker.

Cuisinart's a great choice - hope that helps you in picking the one that works best for your preference and your budget!

Whatever you choose to do...you'll love the taste of homemade ice cream!!!

  2. I've had experience with both manual and electric.  I don't make ice cream that much, so I'd be tempted to go with this one.

But I think the most durable would be this one.

Both are electric.  Trust me, you don't want a manual.
