Im going to be getting on birth control, but don't know which is the best and safest one to get on. My friend is on the depo, and even though it is extremely tempting to get a chance of not having a period i hear alot of bad side effects. Which birth control do you recommend?

  1. Abstinence & chastity belts if you are just worried about getting prego

  2. It all depends on your body... I havent heard anything good about depo... every girl I know has gained a lot of weight on it..

Some women need progressive hormones, some just straight hormones... best to talk to your Gyno about what is best for you.

  3. Birth control patch.

  4. I work at an OB/GYN office.

I hear a lot of complaints about Depo-Provera, number one being the weight gain.

Choosing the birth control that is right for you is something only a doctor can do. Many things factor into their decision such as your age, family history of stroke, and if you are a smoker.

If I were to choose the best one out right now, I would say Lo-Estrin 24 FE. That is the one we get the least complaints about. Hope this helps. Take care.
