The best of Vijay Singh over the years
Tiger Woods came out on top after winning the Ford Championship at Doral back on December the 6th and, eventually, that resulted in Vijay Singh losing his World number 1 spot to the former.
The result was a blow for the Fijian but, with time, things turned out to be better once again, as he managed to reclaim his recently lost spot from one of the greatest golfers that the world as ever seen.
Singh did it again and just two weeks after he lost his number 1 spot, he managed to take it back from Woods, as he put up a decent run of performances on a regular basis.
Singh managed to grab top-three finishes in just three weeks and that too on the trot, as it helped him claim what he thought to have been lost.
The battle between the two proved out to be a real hide and seek policy as within quick succession, the title changed hands. Once again, Woods got the better of Singh as he went on to win the 2005 Masters.
Woods' success coupled with Singh’s in-ability to perform particularly well in his own events meant that the latter not only lost his top spot in the Official World Golf Rankings but also slumped down to tie for the fifth place in the standings.
Singh’s services to the game were rewarded and brought to the spot light as he became the youngest ever golfer to have his name inducted in to the World Golf Hall of Fame.
Singh grabbed 56 percent of the ballot.
2006 saw Singh play a number of renowned and recognized events as his name got listed on the European Tour Order of Merit title for the first time in 11 years.
The Fijian went on to win the Mercedes-Benz Championship, being the first FedEx Cup tournament in PGA Tour’s entire history.
The win saw Singh grab his 18th Tour win after the age of 40, alongside witnessed him surpass Sam Snead’s record, who held the record for most wins over the age of 40.
Singh managed to taste victory once again at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March, 2007. 2008 witnessed him claim three victories – WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, The Barclays and
