I just moved to Spadina Ave(Downtown Toronto)

Between Bloor St. W & Harbord St.

I want to know the following

1- the Cheapest places for grocery shopping (from A-Z) and home supplies and so on. (with the best Halal meat and Arabic markets)

* The best gym with swimming pool (affordable)

* Nearest mosque (for Friday prayer as well)

* the best Halal ethnic resturants around

* the nearest (cheap but good) Cinema not AMC on Dundas its expensive

Thanks

  1. I think the closet mosque might be Madinah Masjid on Danforth, and they have some halal restaurants in that area. There is a pizza restaurant, and there is also Mekkah restaurant where they serve Pakistani-Indian dishes (right next to the mosque.) There are a few Islamic stores, fruit/vegetable markets and a halal grocery store in that area. I'm not sure about movie theatres or gyms though.

The masjid is currently under construction, but my dad said there is a temporary mosque in that area, but I don't know where. You might want to call them and find out.

  2. Good Shepard college and spadine. Lunch served 1030am 1130am mon-fri , for free, but you have to line up and its first come first served. Free sandwich hand outs 200pm-700pm. If cheap is your aim, you should check it out.

  3. There's a really good shawarma place near College & St George but I forgot what it's called. It's west of Anoush & it also sells Philly's cheese burgers or something like that. There's also Pita-Q (or Pita-Pit?) on Bloor and Spadina next to Greg's Ice Cream. A little too dry for my taste but it's cheaper and the people are nice.

Pretty sure the nearest mosque is Masjid Toronto near Dundas and University.

  4. Gold's Gym, and George's Gyros.
