yeah i agree with vakayil k ! it's truly innovative shot played by him. i think people should appreciate rather than criticize him of his innovation.

It is definitely a new shot and one more in the innovations list. I support it. However, the question is, should it be treated on par with the bowler who needs to inform the umpire about bowling left or right handed or even over or round the wicket? I think the field is a little uneven in this area.

As a shot, I think it is as valid as using your feet and coming down the pitch to smother the spin, or even a reverse sweep. In absence of any clarification about the rules, the umpires should allow the shot, but any benefit of doubt about wides or LBWs should be given to the bowlers.

No, it can be seen as the WORST shot because it gives the batsman an unfair advantage over the bowler. The bowler has to tell the batsmen which side he will be coming from (over the wicket or around the wicket) and decides his line and length based on the batsmans stance. Kevin Pieterson would kick up a huge fuss if one of our bowlers ran up over the wicket but at the last second swerved and bowled over the wicket, so why should he be allowed to do essentially the same thing but with the bat instead of the ball? Furthermore, the umpire judges wides using a very narrow measurement for the legside and a wider measurement for the bat side and by switch hitting, Pieterson would ultimately be making every ball a wide. While I am sure it was a difficult skill to master, it is a wimpy way of hitting sixes.

Honestly, I don't like it....it looks really ugly and makes the batsman look like a clown...the ICC/MCC or whoever should have banned it...
