1 - What is the best thing since sliced bread?

2 - What was the best thing before sliced bread?

3 - Where did this expression come from, I mean, 'sliced bread', what's that all about?

The saying is a comparison, before the invention of the bread slicing machine bread was sold in whole loaves that had to be sliced by hand.  Selling presliced bread was a time saving convenience and very popular.  So to say that something is "the best thing since sliced bread" is to say it is a good thing.

I think it's just another one of those weight loss yo-yo diet expression to get you to buy in to there manipulative and multi-billionaire industry. Almost like every other multi-billionaire industry, everyone uses it, but no one ever admits to liking it. A few examples of these industries are p**n, KNITTING, SOCCER, and MILEY CYRUS.

ans.1, Anything you enjoy.  ans 2, bread . ans.3, bread was baked for years n years in trays with a bar across the top/middle to stop the sides from cave in--when bread was baked the bar was removed and bread turned out to cool --this was called a loaf of bread. Alot of folks did not need a full loaf and so would ask baker for a half loaf and the baker would split the loaf and sell half .Then we reach the late 50s and someone decided to slice bread to make life easier. When you buy bread today sliced or in one piece --you are buying a half of a loaf of bread but some people wrongly call it a loaf !!
