Please tell me about the weather, the crowds, the water. What you'd avoid and why? What you'd be sure to see? Thanks!

  1. When the frogs have left which is never

  2. the best time to visit is May or September it is less crowded you can find details of Cannes here http://www.a-taste-of-france.com/cannes-...

  3. The best time of year to visit Cannes and the whole south of France  is end of june and end of september. I disagree with the others who are saying May because the water is really cold at this time (I tried !)

Note : The french summer holidays start from 1st of july to 5th of september. So if you don't wanna be in crowd don't come here between this 2 dates.

In Cannes itself there is not a lot to see but around you will find Monaco, Grasse (perfumes), Castellane (lakes of sainte croix), Saint Tropez (Jet Set), ...

  4. The best time is aways a shoulder season. You can go in May or September get better rates and beat the crowds. In doing so you still get the best weather. The place is packed in the summer and prohibitively expensive.

Keep this in mind, Cannes was actually a winter playground for Europe. People would go there to get away from the snow. Now they go other places even warmer and with more sun that time of year. However it's still a good place to visit then, and more fun since most of the tourists are gone and you get the lowest rates.

  5. Avoid May.. I don't know why some people told you that because this is the worst month for visiting : the Film Festival always takes place in May.

If you want to enjoy the sea and the city in general, come in June or September.
