I am looking to find out the best way to get from NJ to White Plains NY by public transportation (bus, train or both). I will probably leave from Newark Penn Station. I am looking at a job there and want to know if it is to far for me to commute everyday.

  1. Best way will be:

Step 1: Take any New York-bound train to Seacus Junction.

Step 2: Then transfer to MTA Metro-North Port Jervis/Main/Bergen Line to Suffern Station or Pascack Valley Line to Spring Valley.

Step 3: Then transfer to eastbound Tappan Zee Express to White Plains. ($1.50)

    Other way:

Step 1: Instead of getting off at Seacus Junction, get off @ New York Penn Station.

Step 2: Take either M4/Q32 bus from 32nd St/7th Av to Mad Av/42nd St or subways uptown 1/2/3/ via 7th Av from 34th to Times Sq for 42nd St Shuttle or Queens-bound (7) train to Grand Central.

Step 3: Take MTA Metro-North's Harlem Line to White Plains.
