  1. You go to your local housing department and fill in a housing form. Your application is then awarded points, the more points you have the higher up the waiting list you go.

However, if you are currently in private housing and leave thinking you will get a council property faster, you won't, as you will be deemed as having made yourself homeless.

A lawyer cannot help you get a council property.

This is all assuming you are in England.

I'd be interested to know what kind of property you're living in now.... and why you want to get a council property!

  2. You obviously  are not born and bred in this country, otherwise you would know that you have to get on the waiting list, and wait like everyone else.

There are not enough houses, and flats to go round as it is. And yet more people come here from other countries wanting to be housed.

Also you have to be resident in the area you want to get a council flat or house for at least 5 years.

Lawyers won't help you!!!!!! Just wait or pay the going rate in the rental market.

  3. put your name on a waiting list and be prepared to wait and then accept a cruddy flat when its eventually offered - they reckon if you turn it down then you dont really need help

  4. no wait like everyone else

  5. go on the very long list and wait for years thats how the rest of us do it
