Question:

The best way to write on a plate?

I'm co-hosting a party and need to find a way to write names on glass/porcelin dinner plates. It's part of a game.

I don't want to use anything toxic (permanent marker, etc) because the plates will be loaded up with cookies and sent home with the guests.

Any suggestions?

  1. use non toxic permanent marker.

    or pipe with chocolate.

  2. How about some nice labels or even name tags? "Hello, my name is-"

  3. There are some companies that provide special paints and pens for you to draw/write on plates. You then "set" the colours by baking th plates in your oven or send them to one of the places listed below. Try the bigslice website for instructions - very simple.

If that sounds like too much bother, why not use those "pens" that you can ice cakes with.  They are filled with frosting in assorted colours. You would need to be careful that the cookies didn't rub off the icing though.

  4. You can get special glass/china paints at any craft store.  You write on whatever, and put it in the oven for a short time (it will say).  That will make the paint permanent, and it can even be washed in the dishwasher later.......
