The best wingers in the world at the moment
One of the most renowned position on the football pitch, is that of the winger. Most people generally tend to assume that everyone wants’ to be a striker, however with the way the game of football has evolved over the past, the most prominent players on
the pitch are the wingers.
They are the players who inject the pace and skill into the game, that makes the difference to their team winning or losing the game. However despite that fact, there can only be a few wingers out there, who are easily better than the rest. Here is a look
at some of the best wingers in the world at the moment.
Cristiano Ronaldo
One of the first names that comes to a persons mind when they think about a winger, is that of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese winger has been one of the finest talents on display ever since he made the move to join Manchester United.
The player has some of the quickest footwork the game has ever seen and along with his quick feet while on the ball, he is easily one of the fastest sprinters with or without the ball as well.
Over the course of the last three seasons, the player has an average of thirty two goals. Which is an astounding record for any player, even if the player was a striker. However with Ronaldo managing to score all those goals from the wing, he has proven
that he is easily one of the best in the world at what he does.
Ronaldo, apart from being a brilliant dribbler and sprinter, is also a superb crosser and header of the ball. The mercurial winger also tends to take one of the best free kicks in town and is almost always the favourite to score from the dead ball situation.
Ronaldo has so far not had a very impressive start to his domestic season with Real Madrid, but the player is looking to get back to his very best and had shown over his recent matches, that he is still a force to be reckoned with.
Franck Ribery
Despite recently coming under the spotlight for his of field antics, Ribery is still one of the best wingers in the world. The twenty seven year old, who has been with Bayern Munich for what seems like forever, has been a constant thorn in the side of the
teams that the clubs have faced. In fact it was the players superb performances in the Champions League that saw his team go on all the way to the final game. However with the French man being ruled out for the final game, he wasn’t part of the match that
saw Munich loose, most critics till this day claim that had Ribery been present in the game, the outcome at the end of the night would have more than likely been a different one.
Apart from getting on the score sheet every now and then, the player is a constant threat with his assists. He tends to create numerous goals for his team mate, which makes him one of the best offensive wingers to have on the team.
