A professor told me that it was possible that the Indian race originated from a mixture of African people brought to India during the colonial period intermixing with other races. These African people are known as the siddis and they still live in and come from India at this present time. Look on the the two links below:

My questions are, Do you believe that the Indian race emerged due to the intermarriage of African persons with other races? Why or why not?

  1. Yes... Black people were the first humans on the planet. Other races come from evolution (from adapting to different environments as a result of migration) and selective breeding.

But no, it's not possible that Siddis and Indians are a result of intermexing after the colonial period (only). There's evidence that Africans had reached parts of Asia and the Americas before the vikings.

  2. Many Indians today are very black, and I mean jet black, beautiful skin.  The original inhabitants of India were racially similar to Aborigines of Australia and both were groups that migrated from Africa, so yes, they would be of the black race.  India was later conquered by a lighter skinned people, the  Aryans, who set up the caste system, based on skin color.  To this day the lower castes are not given full rights or are featured in the popular Bollywood movies.
