I am going o travel qith qantas.. domestic fluight brisbane to melbourne 2hour and 20min flight. australia.

I have never done this before.. abit skeptical but yet excited.. i am aboutt o go on travel in 1 month. I brought my ticket online with a debit card and print it out.. now i have to wait 1 month. Should i go to that qantas thing where i can log in and get the baording apss ticket online and print it out with my printer? ive never done this.. tho i want to choose where i wish to be seated and specialy seat next to the window.. Im picky where i wish to be seated on the qantas plane. Now it will give me optiosn where i wish to seat. and then print it out on a normal A4 sizes PAPER. Shouldnt the boarding pass ticket look kinder like smaller and hard paper real looks? its just that i would then go to the airport with that boarding pass fake paper ticket... and go to the counter... to check in my bags aniways.. Would the check in counter at the airport give me a real ticket?

  1. Hi there.

You are able to print your boarding pass for flights on domestic services the day before you fly.  I do this for every flight I travel on.  You simply follow the links online, and print it on a normal piece of A4 paper.  At the bottom of the sheet of paper, it prints something that looks just like a normal boarding pass.  When you go to the gate to board your flight, they now have a device that scans the pieces of paper (just like in a supermarket).  It does not place your boarding pass thru the machine, because as you point out, it would not fit.  When you go on line, you will see the diagram of the plane and all the available seats.  You can move yourself around on the plane to find the one you will prefer.   A word of advice.  Window seats get snapped up very quickly or are pre allocated for frequent flyers so you may not get your wish.

So my advice is this.  Do your seat allocation the day before, and try and get the seat you like.  Print it on normal paper.  When you go to the airport, go to the line where you just check in your luggage and see if they can allocate a window for you.  Sometimes frequent flyers change flights and one might pop up.

    Good luck and have fun

  2. You can print off your boarding pass at home, you simply fold it up by the instructions and you're set. There is a barcode that will print on your ticket which is scanned. Its the same when buying other tickets over ticketek, i.e. footy tickets, you just scan it as you would a normal ticket and you get in.

Word of warning, yes you can check in within 24hours before the flight and you can pick you seats. But before you get to pick seats they will already be automatically allocated, from front to back, outside in. So you should be able to change to a window seat but most of the time you will be stuck in the back half of the plane.

The boarding pass you print off is a REAL ticket, they won't give you another. You simply go to the luggage counter, process your luggage and you're done.

  3. When you book online, you get a booking confirmation print-out, its not the ticket.

You can only get your ticket and have your seat allocated once you arrive at the airport to check in. You give them your booking and they process it and print you a ticket to use for boarding.
