“The bullpen did a great job,” says St. Louis Cardinals’ veteran catcher Yadier Molina – MLB Update

St. Louis Cardinals’ veteran catcher Yadier Molina is appreciating his team-mates especially relief pitchers. They threw well after starter Lance Lynn allowed four runs early in Game 1 of National League Championship Series on Sunday, October 14 at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
"The bullpen did a great job, We struck first, and to hold that lead, we won with the bullpen," said catcher Yadier Molina after the game and appreciated the bullpen.
Later Cardinals' manager Mike Matheny also commented and explained about his team’s overall performance against the Giants as he said, "I think that's been very much of a strong suit for us all season, And it's a beautiful thing when these guys trust themselves when they get to two strikes. They can be a little more selective early in the count and then they're not going to panic when we do get to two strikes. I give the guys a lot of credit."
After Lynn allowed four crucial runs and five hits, the Cardinals' bullpen took the responsibility and stood tall against the Giants’ upfront batting line-up as he held them with great force later during the game.
Relief pitcher Joe Kelly pitched one inning for the Cards and received only one hit. He remained calm on the mound and did not allow any run. "Right now we feel like everyone's feeding off each other,” said reliever Joe Kelly.
Trevor Rosenthal also pitched one inning and remained calm in his short spell. He struck-out one and finished without receiving any run.
Cardinals' closing pitcher Edward Mujica struck-out three while he also remained calm on the mound in his one inning spell.
It was a huge victory for the Cardinals as now they are leading with one game ahead from the Giants.
Meanwhile, this is also important to remember that Cardinals for the second time in two years are playing in the post-season as Wild Card holders and the way their senior players are performing, it looks that they have a fair chance to compete for the World Series title with New York Yankees or Detroit Tigers.
