Question:

The cadaver dogs and the McCann case?

Cadaver dogs are trained to locate and follow the scent of decomposing human flesh.

Since these dogs picked up the scent of cadaver in the McCann's apartment (among other things) and since obviously it would be impossible to hide her body in the apartment after the night of May 3, does this mean that Madeleine's body started to decompose immediately after her (purported) death?

I mean, how long after death can the scent be picked up by these dogs?

If Madeleine died alone in the apartment by accident (as Gonçalo Amaral alleges) and just laid there for an hour or so, would an hour be enough for sniffer dogs to pick up the scent?

Just curious about how long after decomposition would it be possible for the dogs to pick up the scent.

  1. Note one of the tapas nines children was ill early on.  Now if both that child and Maddie had been given a drug to keep them quiet and both became ill from a reaction to it, then it is quite possible that Maddie died up to two hours before the alarm was raised!

As all the tapas nine would then have been implicated which would have ended their medical careers then it would have meant they would have had to devise ways of hushing it all up.  Hence cadaver scent would have had two hours to permeate into the wall!

Maddies body is thought to have been hidden in a fridge on a boat and there was a sighting of Gerry at the harbor carrying Madeleine which was discounted because...........the tapas nine gave him an alibi!!!

What ever the truth of what happened the McCanns refused to answer further police questions, take part in a reconstruction and managed to close the investigation whilst admitting it hampered the search for Maddie!!

Short of Maddie being found they are going to remain the prime suspects in most thinking peoples minds!!

  2. Considering the Portuguese police allowed the apartment to be let out to 11 other holiday makers BEFORE the dogs were called in seems to me that these dogs were not only expected to do the impossible but were also expected to be clairvoyants also. Detective Goncalo Amaral was removed from the case or incompetence and is now facing charges of fraud and torture by his own police force. So I would pay about as much attention to the dogs as I would of this thug of a policeman

Red -Chro. Nothing would give me greater pleasure and I would love to show him a picture of the woman he had beaten up. What a brave man !! I will say it again . He is a liar. He is a torturer. He is an incompetent policeman . Or should I say was. as he is sure to be stripped of his office,

So you do have first hand information of the case ? you could have fooled me mate. The hire car was certainly hired out to other people during the 25 days you  stated so just what does that prove. My God what were these police even thinking of, 11 holiday makers and also a laps of 25 days before these dogs were even brought in and both possible crime scenes contaminated by people and time .Some cops. and yes lead by Mr. Amaral himself. No wonder they were unable to find Maddie, 2 whole days before they even set up road blocks   Unbelievable.

  3. A small body of a tiny little three year old would probably start leaving a scent after an hour.Interestingly enough people such as Michael W and others apologists for child neglect- do not doubt the cadaver evidence just spout off about the incompetence of the Portuguese police.

    strange isn't it?

Also very strange how Madeleines excuse for a mother says:"Oh it must be rotting meat"

No logical reasoning. No answering of questions,

No "Oh my god how on earth can a dead body get on our clothes/key/cuddlecat/car/apartment/?" -No just more and more obsfucation.

How can a doctor in a village practice in rural Leicestershire handle six cadavers in a week -when she only worked one day a week?

Oh yeah and wear the same death scented clothes on holiday.

    Well suspect...

  4. It is something that I don't really know the answer to, sorry I cant be of help.

  5. i would think these dogs can pick up the scent even if it is a body that has not been dead for too long

odd that they picked the scent up in more than one place that the mccanns were associated with

i think the dogs did pick up the scent of madeleine and i suspect that even the mccanns strongest apologists might wonder why

i remember the excuse was that the parents were doctors so the scent was on their clothes from work ........ who wears the same clothes at the beach as to the operating theatre or doctors surgery?

  6. they also picked up the scent on the keyfob for the hire car.

  7. Scent of death was detected by the dogs in the car they hired 25 days after Maddie's disappearance, in the spare tyre compartment, UNDER the carpet  and I believe also detected from the apartment all the way up to another appartment up the street.

Also, Amaral's book is selling millions and being read by millions and being believed by BILLIONS.  He believes he was removed from the case because he was getting close to solving it.

I read that he has not revealed everything... and that he is keeping to himself, in reserve,  even more crucial information/details as ammo in  reserve in case the whole thing ever goes to trial.

I would not push Amaral, michael w....

He has first hand information about the case... You haven't. And why don't you call Amaral in the face what you have been calling him ?!

  9. they are trained to detect the smell within an hour of death i think. and these dogs DO NOT make mistakes.
