  3. sorry i don't know where to get them bins from but why don't you buy a cage it saves money from making one. Good luck!

  4. You can get those bins at places like target, walmart, maybe even home depot.

Here is a link on how to make the cages:

  5. DON'T use that kind! NO TUBES! NO plastic please. Read hamster guides, and go to hamster sites! Use your brains! Hamsters will just chew on it, and eventually get sick. DON'T use it. Preferably BUY BUY BUY an aquarium, or a metal bar cage. Buy the right size. Ask a pet store helper to choose one just for your hamster's needs.

  6. I'm kinda with everyone else in saying that plastic cages aren't good for Syrian Hamsters.  Every single Syrian I had chewed a hole through a plastic cage, or ANY other plastic item in their cage.

The plastic bins people use for hamster cages are no more than the storage containers you can find in the house-keeping area of Wal-Mart. Again, most people make those cages for dwarf hamsters, not Syrians who have a bad reputation for chewing through things.

And you really can't get enough ventilation in those cages unless you plan on putting little holes throughout the entire thing; which would only give the hamster a headstart at chewing through it.

  8. get a dwarf

  9. Emily,

Please read a hamster book and research your animal so you don't give it a early death.

    Thank you

Anyways hamsters will chew out of plastic bins and escape.

Buy a 15 gallon aquarium with extra lid latches.

    good luck!!!

  11. A bin cage is perfectly fine for a hamster! I've had a dwarf hamster in a bin cage for months (until he passed away from old age) and he never escaped! It is pretty rare for a hamster to escape from a bin cage.

And the person who said that buying a cage would be cheaper then making a bin cage, that's not true. One of the whole points of making a bin cage is that it is cheaper then buying one. You can buy a bin cage for around $10 at Target or Wal-Mart and drill lots of holes in it. Or, if you wanna make it look better, get some mesh and cut out sections of the cage and put the mesh there. I made my bin cage and I used mesh. Altogether, it cost me about $20-25. Now, say you get a plastic tunnel cage, that costs about $40. In my opinion, I would definitely choose the bin cage over the plastic tunnel cage.
