Where can I find information on all the candidates positions on home school? So far all I can find is that Duncan Hunter and Ron Paul support it and can't find any info for the rest. I want to know where all the candidates stand republican and democrat.

  1. Most of the candidates have the issue of education on their websites. The Republican candidates seem to be more homeschool friendly (or at least actually talk about it!).

Ron Paul has a separate page on homeschooling: http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/home-s...

Mitt Romney promotes school choice, including homeschooling: http://www.mittromney.com/Issues/educati...

John McCain supports charters, homeschooling and vouchers: http://www.ontheissues.org/John_McCain.h...

Mike Huckabee seems to be homeschool friendly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-qOh1cb6...

John Edwards is supposedly "homeschooling" his kids during this campaign. He has in fact hired a tutor to teach them the curriculum from the public school and seems to be in favor of public schools. In my opinion, this is merely "school at home" rather than homeschooling. Here's an article about an interview with Mrs. Edwards on the subject: http://momocrats.typepad.com/momocrats/2...

Barack Obama doesn't seem to have a position on homeschooling. Like Edwards, he is pushing for preschool for all.

Hillary Clinton is similar to Obama; like the other Dem's she is pushing for preschool.

  2. I would send them an email and ask them all. Go to their web sites for the info.

  3. While homeschooling is a major issue for those involved in home schooling and to some point those involved in education, it is not a big issue for the population at large. Thus you are unlikely to find such information in a general web search.

I would suggest that you contact the campaign headquarters for the candidates veiwpoints on this issue via e-mail or phone. Contact information can be found on canidates campaign websites.

  4. All you have to do is a quick search on each of them in a search engine with the word "homeschooling" attached to it and you'll find what you're looking for.  I've found where every one of them stand on homeschooling by simply doing this.  With the democrats you have to dig a little, but there is a reason for this, which you'll quickly realize why.

And I do agree to send each campaign an email or give them a call, asking them directly, but always take their word with a grain of salt.  Rather, you should be searching for what their past actions have said, because actions speak a whole lot louder than words.  You can easily find this online.
