I have a 97 Chevy Tahoe and while filling the coolant reservoir I noticed that there was a short black tube attached to the cap. The tube seemed to be loose and did not attach to anything. I have never noticed this before and am a complete dud when it comes to cars. Where does this tube attach and how can I reattach it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  1. nothing it there to let the coolant out if it get too full. There should be a hose coming from the radiator to the reservoir ( in at the bottom I think) and the hose in the top of the reservoir is just an over flow hose.

  2. it doesn't attach to anything.  it's there in case of an overflow.

  3. it is an overflow for coolant when it gets to hot. it does not attach to anything.

  4. its the overflow, when the coolant in the radiator heats up it will come out of this pipe onto the road or were ever, if you drive for a long time on a hot day have a look under the front of the car when you stop and you will see a puddle of the overflow

  5. it dose not go anywhere it just point to the ground in case it overheat and overflows

  6. the tube does not attatch anywere it is there to route antifreeze out of the tank if your pressure exeeds 16 psi

  7. most of the time those go to a resovoir on the vehicle look and see if it looks broken or has been cut ,on the older models they just ran down to the ground but on the newer ones they run over to a resovoir on the vehicle, good luck.

  8. it is an overflow so it simply droops down toward the ground

  9. It is used as a relief for the coolant in your radiator. Either pressure or excess fluid will spill from there. Don't worry it is designed that way. So, no re-attachment needed.

  10. most go to the radiator  is where you should fill it at when cool the reservoir is more of a catch can type thing if it gets hot it over flows into it and when it cools is sucks it back into radiator with out hose its nothing but a jug of coolant
