The chapter of Arc defense closes for the wonder filly, Danedream
Trainer, Peter Schiergen, was relieved when the third place finisher of the 2011 Arc, Snow Fairy, was withdrawn from the line-up of the Arc this year. Even though the intense pressure from the 2012 Triple Crown failed contender, Camelot, and the Japanese racing star, Orfevre, was to be dealt with, it was one threat down.
The winning trainer of the 2011 edition will have no pressure to deal with anymore as his star four-year-old bay filly, Danedream, has been scratched from the Prix de I’Arc de Triomphe on Sunday at Longchamp.
It was revealed on Monday that the 2011 Arc winning filly was a serious suspect for the swamp fever due to the blood infection. The Cologne race course has been closed down for the next three months owing to the nature of the unfortunate scenario.
"We are the biggest training centre in Germany and one horse has tested positive for Equine Infectious Anaemia [swamp fever]”.
“There is a quarantine period of 90 days, and for that reason Danedream will not be able to run in the Arc”.

“It is really sad that she will not be able to run, but there is nothing we can do about it.”
“That situation at the moment is final and binding.”
The timings could not have been worse for the stable that was in full swing to defend the title, and were overwhelmingly confident about the form of the filly, who had improved drastically through the season.
The failure to become the part of the prestigious event has ripped off one of the most important pages of her unrelenting and enviable career. She could have become the second filly in the history after Corrida who won the Arc successively in 1936 and 1937. Her record would have glistened with being the second entry to have won the Arc twice in a row after the Irish colt, Alleged, accomplished the honour in 1977 and 1978.
The line-up is star-studded event is highlighted with Nathaniel, Camelot, Sea Moon and the Japanese 2011 Horse Of The Year, Orfevre.
The betting patterns changed after Camelot’s confirmation in the Arc, and will again witness subsequent turns after the scratching of the filly who was being most heavily relied upon.
