  1. have been Mexican but alive for several years in Spain. Now I am in Cancún of vacations, but  I can recommend a page where you will find hostels cheap and near the main attractions of each city. In Barcelona, the best zone is "Las ramblas" and the "Paseig of grace", in addition to the call "Spanish Town". When you look for hostel, it selects some near Las ramblas. In Madrid, the options are many: The real palace, "la plaza mayor", several museums and the great one vía. Hostels in this zone are many, reason it will be easier for you. The stations of train in both cities, are near the places that I have mentioned. It is very easy to be transported in bus or subway by the city.

  2. Your best to have a look on the companies below

  3. If you have a friend - spanish one may be who wants to give you a free overnight stay in her / his place, then it could be free ... you are not lucky I don't live in Spain, otherwise you may come to my place.

Usually youth hostel everywhere is good and the cheapest place to stay. Place to stay? Eh, why not to pay a visit to tourism office or something like that???

  4. The old quarter of Girona is very nice, too.  Then near Girona, in Figueras is the Dali Museum and near there, Cadaques on the Costa Brava.  It would be best to rent a car for that.  Between Madrid and Portugal, the train goes through Salamanca, a beautiful university town.  The university was founded in the early 14th century and there's a lovely Roman bridge.  There are so many beautiful places to see that's it's difficult to see them all in such a short time.  Toledo is also nice and not too far out of the way from Madrid or Salamanca.
