  1. I wouldn't even dare to visit Cebu.. there's just a lot of bad people and crime. You seriously don't want to ruin your vacation, do you? You see people will say a lot of good things about that city but it will be different when you are actually there. All they care about is your hard-earned money and will always triple/quadruple the price of anything if you are foreigner.

  2. Hi There! Cebu is nice i lived there 12 Years ago.I depends which area You live in.City's always have a higher Crime Rate.I live in Marinduque Island which has has very little Crime.Check out my website www.clubcagpo.tk

  3. I have been living in and visiting Cebu City since 1994.

I am happy to walk all over the city, day or night, alone or with friends.

Bad things can happen to you in Cebu City just as anywhere else in the world. However, the chances of something bad happening are small.

The biggest problem in Cebu City is snatchers and pick pockets. So, don't make your self a target and you are unlikely to become one.  For me this means:

    - Never ever carry any type of bag. Especially the bum bag or f***y bags that go around your middle. If you must carry a bag, make sure there is nothing valuable inside such as your passport.

    - Only carry a cheap mobile phone (cell phone)

    - Don't walk along a busy street while calling or texting

    - Don't dress like you are worth a million dollars

    - Keep your jewellery hidden

    - Don't flash your cash

    - Keep your cash in front pockets which are zippered, buttoned or velcro

    - Carry lots of small notes eg 50's and 20's as these will be the most commonly used money. Then, keep small notes P100 and below separate from large notes. This is so a potential pick pocket will not know where your main stash is hidden

    I hope this helps!

  4. I am a Canadian that lived in Cebu City for a month. I visited many of the smaller cities, like LapuLapu, Mandaue, Talisay and many of the smaller areas too. I disagree with a previous post that says this city is a terrible place to visit. The people will give you the same respect you give them and if you smile they smile right back and it's 100% genuine. Like others have said, just take the normal precautions you would in any city and you will be fine.

People in Cebu will be happy to tell you about places to avoid and about the places you must see. Carbon Market is one place I was told was home to many pickpockets. Most people speak at least a little bit of English and many people speak English very well. English one of the official languages of business and government in the Philippines, so if you can speak English you can easily get around in Cebu.

It never hurts to learn a few phrases, especially please - palihug and thank you - salamat. Cebu City is a wonderful place to start a journey of exploration of the Philippines.

  5. if not you can always ask spain to send troops....roflmao. just teasing.

  6. Cebu is probably the safest place in Philippines for a foreigner.  That would be a good choice.

  7. yes! there are tons of foreigners in that area, living peacefully.

  8. I have lived here 5 years.... just like most countries including America.....there are certain areas that have a higher risk than others.....BUT generally speaking the Philippines is SAFER than most

Use good judgment.....do your research.....make local friends..... I lived in Cebu for a year.....it is one of the oldest cities in the Philippines..... It has the normal benefits of a metropolitan community.....but I prefer the quiet and less poluted rural communities.... traveling to the city is not difficult in a country with a pedicab / easyride / bus on every corner

I live in Valencia.....near Dumaguete City.... for me it is the next best thing to paradise....

I do not feel you will be at any additional risk .....respect the culture.....the customs......the people.....Live like you would want them to live in your country..... This culture is over 2,000 years old..... it is NOT America..... but it is special and in many ways better....

Do what Filipinos do in America....."respect" and "adapt".....

  9. yes,  but be prudent as in life.

  10. if you love loud kareoke , its a good place
