The classification of visa of United states, Like F-1?

I was surfing on the internet and have been seeing this phrase "I am currently in the United States on an F-1 visa. What must I do to transfer to CSM?" My question is what does Visa F-1 function, who is using it, What is the acronym of CSM and Why some people like this person that I found was wanting to change the status from F-1 to CSM?

We have different classifications of visas for what an alien is doing in the United States

F1 is a student

B2 is a tourist
