  1. There is only one God, some people worship material things.

  2. There are no other gods, only one for that reason worshiping any other gods is blasphemy because you're worshiping false ones.

  3. The phrase "before me" literally means "in my face or presence". Therefore we are not to worship any so-called gods -other than the Almighty Creator- anywhere that God is. And since God is omnipresent, we are not to worship other gods at all, period.

  4. Money, vanity, hate, greed, etc all can be false gods we worship.

Jesus said one cannot have two masters.

    God love you!

  5.    We  are to  worship  God  and honor  Jesus,

no  one  is to be put  in the same  line as God.

Jesus  is  God,s  Son,but not  God

so  the  Father is our  God.

  6. Do your other "gods" answer your questions?

Do they give you peace and joy in your heart?

    Do they give you hope?

  7. Whooooooo, if you believe there are other gods and goddesses then you don't know Jesus Christ, the ONE and TRUE LIVING God.  If you REALLY knew him and his power, there would be no need to seek another.

Be very careful...you are playing with fire.  God destroyed nations for the sheer fact they continue to serve idol gods.  Don't dare put God/Jesus on the same level as pagan idols.  It's just another dark spirit at work.

  8. Indeed, what about before/after, of:

    - before: in our image: created imperfect, fit for destruction... law

    - after: after our likness: made perfect, fit for heaven... grace

    1John 1:17's Before/After:

The LAW was given by Moses... before

But GRACE and truth came by JC... after

    John 8:32's Before/After:

YE(know nots, do err, greatly and alway)

YOU (know the truth) are made free of erroneous beliefs

    1Peter 5:10's Before/After:

YE: suffer awhile in yer oxymoronic grace + law

YOU: made perfect by the God of all grace (no law)

    1Corinthians 13;11's Before/After:

Before: Childish (laws)... Saul of Tarsus: Terror-ist

After: Man (grace)... Paul The Apostle: Epistle-ist

Howbeit after-ward if the law is the after part also: 1Cor15?

    Saved(Graced) + Destroyed(Lawed) "after-ward": Jude 1:5

    Blessed(Graced) + Cursed(Lawed) = Accursed: Gal 1:8,9

    Alive(Grace) + Dead(Law) = Not allowed to continue: Heb 7:23

  9. there is only one God

  10. Let me show you something. Exodus 20:3 - "You shall have no other gods before me."   Exodus 23:13 - "Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips." God does not want you to have any other gods period. Deuteronomy 6:14 - "Do not follow other gods." It is clear. When God said, "have no other god's before Me," He was not saying in rank, He was saying that there should be no other gods in His sight when He looks at you.

  11. [edit] Prepositionbefore

    1. Earlier than (in time).

I want this done before Monday.

    2. In front of in space.

            He stood before me.

    3. In front of, according to system of ordering items.

In alphabetical order, "cat" comes before "dog

Definition 3 is the one meant here.

  12. What about during? In fact , if you never convert even for a minute, to Christianity then technically it wouldn't be 'before' at all. If you were a Christian for ten minutes in preschool you should be free to worship any deity you want for the remainder of your life.

  13. He is God and there is no other.

  14. Because He would like to have ALL of you! (He IS God Almighty and wants you all to HimSelf!!)

  15. Are you trying to be funny or do you not understand what the word 'before' means in this context?

Just in case you are serious, God says 'you are to have no other gods 'but' me'. No other Gods - period.

If you care the read the remainder of that particular commandment you will see what the punishment will be for breaking it.

  16. because  the father and son are the only true gods, all the rest are man made or false gods which worshiping is forbidden by the word of god , how can you enter into a covent with christ and disobey at the

same time, your not making any sense ,or you don't understand the word of god

  17. I've got a preposition for you, AFTER you've stopped patting yourself on the back for being cute, google "henotheism" for giggles.

    ;)

  18. He is a jealous God. He wants to be the only one. There is one God and one mediator-Jesus Christ.

  19. cause he said no other GODS not no other important people who can also lend you their aide.

he also said no idols. worshiping other gods or people in general would be making an idol out of them. so no

you can't worship other gods and you can not have other idols you pray to or ask for help.

FYI praying to Jesus and worshiping him like a god makes him an idol and goes against the first 2 commandments...sorry christians...

  20. Well classically "Thou shalt worship false idols" when taken with the First Commandment is generally regarded as the worship of only one God especially when also related to other parts of the Old Testament that specifically show God instructed he was the only God.

It is that sense that made the reformation so powerful in the Catholics were worshiping relics and it was thought to be worshiping idols. The arguement there of course is what constitutes a 'false' idol over a 'real' one and if that would be allowed.

It was also a classic dilema for Christians, what is Jesus if not a second God or false idol? That is why theologist suggest the Trinity and idea as Jesus as God, they woudl claim they are not worshiping two Gods but one. Whether you believe that, of course, determines your belief but it is an interesting idea as to its orgigin.

  21. lol, I think the idea was not to worship false idols instead of God.

Besides, don't you see the contradiction between a monotheistic religion and religious pluralism? they don't mix too well as concepts

  22. Technically, I guess it is Kosher, so long as you worship YHWH first

  23. no worship the one and only God

  24. The commandment means, that we should serve no other gods at all.  No other gods should be placed "in the presence" of the Almighty God of the universe.   There is only one God, the rest are so-called gods.  The rest are mindless and powerless.  The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is omniscient and omnipotent, and best of all He loves you and I.

In a sense you are right.  God does have many attributes of a woman.  When God created mankind in His image, He created mankind male and female.  Only as male and female is man in the image of God.
