do they think it is allowed because they think it's a noble cause or what's in their twisted head? what do you think of them?

  1. There is a difference between killing in self defense and murdering. The first crusade was the response of the church due to Islamic aggression. The later crusades were done solely out of greed and were wrong, not to many Christians today will deny this.

  2. Well, the crusades were conducted for political reasons, rather than as religious activities.  The Church was looking to flex its muscles by making Kings lead crusades as a form of punishment.  It also proved to be a good way to get rid of second sons, etc.  The religious goals were used to get the troops together and gather public support, but the royals who were sentenced to running these things knew exactly why they were being sent to bother people in the Middle East.  They were supposed to die out there or bring back loot to buy favor back from the Church.  In the Middle Ages, the main ruling force after the fall of the Roman Empire was the Catholic Church and it reigned until the rise of the middle class began to challenge the church's absolute authority.

During the crusades, the Kings were puppets of the Church, once the Reformation began to break the control of the Church, crusades were no longer possible to inflict on people.

  3. interesting all I have to say.

  4. War is somehow okay in most Christians eyes. They see it as self defense. This somehow overlooks the fact that the largest wars in the last century have been between Christian nations and both sides can't be defending themselves.

-Atheist against the U.S. policing of the world.

  5. The Crusades were fought to try to take the Holy Land back from the Muslims, who had conquered it in the first place.

No one seems to talk bad about the Jews who came up and kicked the Muslims out shortly after the last Crusade.

It was about retaking land stolen from them, not just killing in the name of God.

  6. When one is reading a scripture perhaps it is usually a more beneficial idea to read it and understand it in its original language and context.

The Decalogue or the Ten Commandments were instituted as civil/social/moral code which pertained only to the community of the Jewish people.

A more accurate translation would read, "You shall not murder your brother Israelites without specific justification".

Remember that shortly after these "commandments" were "divinely" given to the Israelites through the Prophet Moses/Musa the Israelites were then instructed to kill/murder/destroy all of those person and societies that were then inhabiting the "promised land" YHWH/god was giving to the Jews so that the prohibition of "not murdering/killing" others did not apply to ones enemies.

This is not to say the crusades as the same were begun and carried out by the Holy Roman Catholic Church were "good" or correct.  War is literally never the answer nor the path that leads to benefits to all others and ones self.

The other reality is that supposed "men of faith" have, since the formation of such belief systems, happily twisted, distorted and manipulated the teachings of the same religions so as attempt to gain power and material wealth.

The saddest aspect of all of this is that so many chose to mindlessly follow such persons and, for the sake of the very gods they have made, march into h**l.

Be well and please, be wise.

  7. Richard the Lion Heart is dumb.

  8. What do I think of them? "Sadomasachists" comes to mind, but I also think that of the papacy.

    Atheistically yours,

    JM Gendron.

  9. they not God's people true believer follow Gods words

  10. the only exception of that commandmant is when God himself instucted that someone be killed. you see alot of this in leviticus where the laws and punishment for breaking them are outlined. and even then only the divinely appointed executioners, not just someone who wants to take matters into their own hands.

  11. There isn't an excuse that exists in this world that can justify murder.  Try as people will to justify it, and say that God made them do it.

God never justified murder in the bible.  Men fought in battle as they do to this day, but God never gave the command to intentionally murder.

The only acceptable causes of death, in my own humble opinion, are  accidental, natural, and self defense.

There is no reward or justification for intentional murder, this is a delusion of the murderer.

People murder because they are under the delusion that it is 'easier' than doing things legally, when it is just the opposite.  It is more difficult to cover one's tracks than it is to take care of the situation legally and in a much more productive manner.

They might want to try watching 'forensics' on cable and find out that no one can get away with murder, it is only a matter of time before it comes back to them and their lives are completely ruined.  And during that time what kind of life will they have always looking over their shoulders?  Doesn't make any sense to me, never has....

It's so much easier and productive doing things legally.  :)

  12. only god knows who is fighting for his religion....the one who truely struggles in the name of god will go to heaven....

god mentions in holy Quran that "if you kill an innocent person , it is if you have killed the whole of humanity"....If even in his name you are killing some innocent people(may be from any religion).... it will not be forgiven

  13. You are right on target.

The Crusaders tried to make a comeback by going on a preemptive strike... but we all see how that ended up.

All this dark thinking is supported by blood for sin theology that Jesus himself never taught. Explained on my biography.

It is twisted... you are absolutely right.

  14. I think the acurrate translation of that commandment is Thou shall not commit murder. Killing in self defense is NOT a sin. The crusades just show how far people are willing to go in the name of thier religion, just like the islamic radicals that blow up people today are doing it "for Islam" Killing others in the name of religion is never a good thing.
