The computer cannot find the Camcorder no matter...

Question

I've recently acquired a Canon MV930 and I've been using it to record a really important project for school. I've got what I need and all I have to do is upload the video to my computer for editing, but no matter what I try the computer doesn't want to detect the camcorder.I'm using a 6-pin Firewire cord to connect the camera to the system and I'm using Windows XP. This is the first time I'm using any sort of firewire cord and the USB cord doesn't work either.I've tried installing several drivers, rebooting the system doesn't work and I'm running out of options and ideas. Please help me! I'm getting desperate.
