The crowd at the North v West Coast game?

Do you think it was a backlash against North Melbourne for refusing to relocate (good on em) the fact that West Coast wouldnt have many fans there or maybe the popularity of the Gold Coast NRL team?

  1. Defiantly had nothing to do with a NRL team being on the Gold Coast, It was pouring rain for a few hours before the game which would have stoped people from going and i think the refusal to relocate added to the poor crowd.

  2. Don't know about the NRL factor - you'd know more than me if you're a local - but neither AFL team playing has much of a following outside its home postcode. North has a bit of interest in the Riverina, which is where they should have been relocated, but once you get to Kalgoorlie the WCE are very out of favor.

Unlike, for example, Collingwood or Essendon, who have country-wide support.

Apathy strikes again - a game about which nobody gives a fat rat's cloaca - which is the actual Latin term, so don't report me please for using rude words.

And that's why seven men and a stray dog turned up to watch.

  3. no i dont think that

    i blame WCE

if collingwood was playing north melb on the coast

    the game would sellout

i cant remember when collingwood didn't sellout a interstate match

  4. If it was at Carrara, then that's an archaic ground.

I don't think anyone on the Gold Coast cares about North Melbourne anyway.

Also the success of the Gold Coast Titans would have an impact.

  5. i think is it because people dont want to travel from victoria (kangaroos fans) or western australia (west coast fans) to watch a game when their team will be back at home next week. only the diehard fans and cheer quad would have gone.

  6. Proves what the majority of us 'footy heads' in here have been saying in here,  the AFL is making a big mistake, it will be worse with West Sydney.

All it will do is waste a stack of money that they get from us fans in one way or another, they will prop both teams up for 10 years then say, it's failed, who wants to buy a license for the AFL. wankers they are.

They should check this site out sometimes, we don't know every thing, nor do we claim to but some of our answers and question are what the general public are feeling, they pay no respect to the fans of the game, they never worry what the fans really want. Ignorance at it's best.

  7. Neither team is that popular on the Gold Coast, if the Lions were playing they definately would have been a much bigger crowd.  Also the fact that a pretty big storm hit just before the game started would have also been a factor in keeping the crowd numbers down.

  8. It was probably a combination of cold weather, a lack of real support for either team and the likely prospect of North thrashing west coast- which didn't actually happen, but everyone thought it would
