The captain announces that the hull has been breached; you must abandon ship. As your lifeboat is lowered, it hits the side of the ship, putting a hole in its side. It hits the water and begins to sink. There are 10 people in the boat and to prevent its sinking, you work out that by having 9 people bailing 10 minutes while 1 person rests, you can bail fast enough to keep from sinking, but you have to continually keep it up to ensure that the boat doesn’t sink. You see another boat and notice that a friend of yours is there and sees your predicament. He is signaling for you to come over and join them on their boat. There is only room for 1 more person. You also notice that their boat is moving away with the current; your boat can’t keep up

As you watch the boat with your friend drift away, you have about 30 seconds to make a decision:

) Do you stay on your current boat and help keep it afloat as long as possible

b) Do you go to your friends boat and leave the others to sink

  1. 9 to bail leaves one to plug the hole, me. I'm an ingenious sort, and read all the Hornblower books several times, and more than a few other books on sailing and materials. And, I have a lifetime of experience at "southern engineering." At its finest, "southern engineering" is more than a survival skill, its an art.

  2. save myself dude are u serious?

im only concerned about myself i dont care

  3. I´d stay on the current boat and help the others and be glad that my friend is safe, that´s what friendship is about.

  4. umm.... harsh... i'd say.... if i had been awake all day, i would swim to my friend, if i had just woken up, i wouldve stayed in my boat... wow

  5. I go    there are  still 9 people to bale and hope to be rescued

  6. I guess that I would make the quick calculation that with one less person in the boat they wouldn't have to work as hard as I jump to my friend's boat.

  7. You look at the total people that are allowed on the life boat.  It should be about 45 people.  Transfer the water and food and other stuff that will keep you a live.  Let the other boat sink.  The Coast Guard should be there soon because of the distress signal that was sent by the captain.  The life boat should have location beacons with it and other supplies.  If not it is going to be a long ride to land.  Good Luck
