The cyclone that hit Myanmare ( i know I didn't spell that right)?

Is a hurricane in that part of the world called a cyclone or was it a tornado? I thought a cyclone was the same thing as a tornado but a death toll of 100,000 is too high for a tornado???

  1. A cyclone is another name for a hurricane. A hurricane, typhoon, and cyclone are the same storms just different names.

    -In the Atlantic and Eastern Pacific Oceans are called hurricanes.

    -In the Western Pacific they are called typhoons

    -In the Indian Ocean they are called cyclones
