Question:

The day after dancing, my whole body aches. How can I relieve the pain ?

I feel it mostly in my legs, at the top of my arms and in my higher back.

People have told me that I should stretch to relieve the pain, but there's no way i'm trying that again. I tried a few times, but the pain was too overpowering. It makes it hurt even more.

I'm asking because I've got my dance exams on a Friday and I have a class the day before. This'll make it impossible to dance properly and every step I take will be in agony.

So, is there anything I can do (besides stretching) to relieve the pain ?

  1. Tylenol.. and I know you don't want to hear it but stretching really is the best thing to do. Try stretching and don't try to push it too far.

  2. Okay.  I have been in this achy state before. You need to take some aleve or motrin.  Take a warm-hot bath and then get a good amount of sleep (at least 8 hours).  These are the only things that work for me when my muscles are overworked.  If you cannot find relief from the above try seeing a physiotherapist or sports medicine doctor, both are capable of helping you to alleviate your pain.  Hope you find relief soon...Good luck with your dance exams!

  3. try relaxing and massaging your sore body parts also a warm bath and shower works wonders every time

  4. light swimming, jacuzzi, hot bath, hot shower or light massage
