    R.I.P.  VHS

  3. well theirs many different answers

  4. its still alive and well in my 4 year olds room.

  5. It depends on what measurement you use to declare something dead. In terms of selling pre recorded movies, well, VHS has been dead for quite a while. Lots of places have dump bins where you can find misc. VHS movies for $2-3. But, WallMart has dump bins of $5 DVDs, so does that mean that DVD is dead, too ?

In any case, as long as new VHS machines and new VHS blank tape is sold, its alive.

  6. IMO, it's not dead until my Grandma gives up her VCR!

  7. VHS in the US is considered "commercially dead" as you can no longer find new movies on VHS since 2004, but you can still find blank VHS tapes.

I can on speculate the official death of the VHS format in the US around 2014, based on lifespan of previously dead formats.
