  1. The main source of energy is dead bodies from the top layer of the ocean.

  2. Well to begin with there's not much life down there anyway.

Most life exists near vents, where heat, and metals provide the energy.

  3. probably predigested stuff that filters down

  4.      well, there are certain species that live in the ocean that dont neccessarily need to be exposed to sunlight in order to survive.

as u said though, the sun is the main source of all energy for all beings whether they are at the bottom of the ocean or living somewhere where they are constantly being exposed to the suns rays.

what happens is that these organisms that live at the extreme depths of the ocean live off of specimens produced by other organisms to survive and also tiny microorganisms who float down to the bottom of the ocean.

the sunlight is still the main source of energy even for organisms at the bottom of the ocean bc they feed on other specimens that hav already taken in some of the energy produced by the sun in some way thru the food chain.
