  1. A salad fork is shorter than a dinner fork, but 2 dinner forks can also be used.

At a place setting, the forks will be to the left of the plate.  The fork furthest from the plate is salad, and dinner in closest to the plate.  If a third fork is placed, that is for desert.

General rule is to work your way from the outside-in.

  2. the salad fork is the outside fork most of the time

  3. A salad fork in wider and has shorter tines...which are better at stabbing lettuce and such

A dinner fork in narrower and has longer tines...which are better at stabbing food.

    Maybe

  4. i think salad forks are smaller and look like sporks?

  5. Nothing. It's a scam invented by the dishwashers' union to create more dirty silverware to help them keep their jobs.
