  1. How are they similar?  They are all rotating low pressure systems, which technically means they are all cyclones (note lower case lettering of cyclone)

A tornado and a twister is the same thing, and some people may refer to a tornado as a cyclone.

A Hurricane and a Cyclone (note capitalization) are the same thing, just in different locations.  Hurricanes occur over the Atlantic basin and the eastern Pacific Ocean, while Cyclones occur over the northern Indian Ocean.  Over the eastern Pacific Ocean they are called Typhoons.

As earlier stated, they are all rotating systems.  Hurricanes and Cyclones are much larger, while tornadoes (twisters) occur on a much smaller scale.  Tornadoes are borne of severe thunderstorms primarily over land (over water they are called waterspouts), and usually don't last more than 10 minutes, while Hurricanes (Cyclones) are borne over warm tropical waters, and can last many days to weeks.
