  1. None are sugars and all are bad for you for a variety of reasons.

I can't stand these new drinks that look like flavored vitamin water and then I find out after the first sip that there is artificial sweetener in it.  I usually end up tossing them.

  2. Many of these contain Aspartame as the principal sweetening agent. There have been some health alerts over this substance, but I cannot find anything definitive, however the fact that drinks containing it make some people sweat profusely only a minute or so after drinking suggests to me that all its effects are not well known. I personally don't take a chance on it, but you must make up your own mind.

Other differences are mainly cosmetic I believe, but always check the ingredients as formulae change all the time.

  3. STEVIA is the most natural of the artificial sweeteners & has been used in Asia for hundreds of years.  It can also be used for cooking & baking & has little r no side effects.  It is 200-300X sweeter than sugar so you just need a bit.

NUTRASWEET & EQUAL are basically the same containing aspartame.

Aspartame has the most serious side effects:  it causes formaldahyde to accumulate  in the brain. It can cause many side effects like headaches; decreased fertility in males; diarrhea;anxiety; agitation; lowered serotonin levels (causing depression);implicated in MS, lupus, fibromyalgia & other central nervous systems disorders; dizziness, manic & depressive episodes; gastrointestinal problems.

When it 1st came out Monsanto (who makes Nutrasweet started a multi-million dollar effort to publicize that Sweet 'N Low was cancerous & won.  All Diet sodas & foods changed from using Sweet'N Low (saccharin) to using Nutrasweet.  Cancer from Sweet 'N Low has never been proven.

SPLENDA has asserted that it is "natural" because it parrots sugar.  However the sugar industry is suing it's maker for false assertions.

It was discovered when the company McNeil was looking for a new pesticide!  It's not recognized by the body as food so little of it is absorbed.

Side effects for sensitive people are skin rashes/flushing; agitation; headaches; migraines; dizziness & agitation; intestinal problems, stomach cramps;bladder discomfort.

SWEET 'N LOW (Saccharin) seems to have the least side effects, though it was shown to cause bladder cancer in rats only.  It has been around a long time. Pregnant women, children & teenagers should not use any artificial sweeteners.

Taste is individual.  I think Aspartame (Nutrasweet) is worst for your health.

    Good luck
