The digital odometer on my 2005 sunfire .... it illuminates slightly but dark .... you can barely see the ?

numbers. It used to illuminate red. The state inspection failed me for it. How much would it cost to replace a bulb or fix it ????

  1. Chances are that it is a manufactures defect.  Not the cars manufacturer, but the company that built the dash cluster.

    It sounds like an LED (light emitting diode) on the printed circuit board has burned out.

    Since it is only 3 years old, I would take it back to the dealer and tell them what is going on.

    It shouldn't cost you anything to fix it.


  2. It's on a dimmer, turn it up.

    If it is the bulb, as the state inspectors would know, should be one hour plus $5 bulb;  the instrument cluster has to be removed.

  3. We all know what that girl is thinking about! many times you remove the dash instrument panel then flip it over so you can twist the bulb holders 1/4 turn and replace the bulbs. Before doing that work go to the dealership and ask if there is bulbs that can be changed and buy some.
