On another note, wetsuits are very bouyant, especially the thicker you go. Not only do you wear all of the gear, you actually have to use weights to keep yourself down!

I agree with robert but I want to add that in water you feel a lot lighter than you feel on land

The cylinder is buoyed up by the seawater, therefore it does not seem so heavy once in the water.

Also we wear fins on our feet so we can get more propulsion.

Obviously it is quite hard to move through the water with all the gear on, but we move slowly most of the time so we can look at the marine life.
