I recently dyed my hair. I should have gone lighter. It's a permanent dye, not a wash out. So, now what do I do? I want to go a few shades lighter. How long do I wait until I dye it again. I'm in no hurry, just not sure what to do. My hair is very healthy and I really want to keep it that way!

  1. well it all depends on the color ur hair started out with.. if it was a dark brown shade then going lighter will take time and you might come across damage because ur hair pigment needs to lighten up.. I recommend ANYTIME you want light hair, to go to a hair stylist, because they use the best method to achieving the color you want, with less possible damage..

You want to make sure you dont ruin ur hair so I would toss out the extra cash to have them do it

    hope this helps :-)

  2. Well, you should probably wait a couple months before dying it again. Just because you don't want it to get too dry. I did that once too. I wanted it a little lighter than the caramel I dyed it so after a couple months, I bought a do-it-yourself highlighting kit. It looked really good! Just a couple highlights and it really lightens your whole outlook. Hope I helped!

  3. First of all you should not use home dyes bought in the chemist or supermarket, they are not the same as professional colour applied in a hairdresser.  (This is really where you should have gone).  There are a few things to consider, What colour is your hair to begin with and what colour have you put in it.  If you hair is very dark it may not go as light as you want the first time it is dyed, you can work your way up to the preferred colour.

If you not in a hurry leave it for six weeks and then go to the hairdresser and let them sort it out for you.  They can give you a colour chart so you will can show them what you want.  Buy yourself a nice conditioning treatment recommended to suit your hair while you are there.  Get your hair trimmed as well.

Go for highlights rather than all over colour in my opinion, good luck.
