I've been having pain in my chest for more than 3 three weeks now. I went to the doctor last week, and he checked my blood pressure, and heart. He said everything was normal. He also told me that I have a health phobia? (an excessive preoccupation or worry about having a serious illness), which is NOT true! I SINCERELY feel pain! What is going on?! (Am 15).

  1. you may be experiencing anxiety or panic attacks. What is going on in your life. You might want keep a journal and write down what is going on before you experience the pain. include feelings, social situations, and even foods (maybe a gastrointestinal thing). See if a pattern develops. You may also want to see another doctor. you do not want to see a doctor that is so dismissive. Good luck to you.

  2. It probably all in your mind.

  3. Sunny, when you have a health phobia (somatic disorder) you really do feel the pain.  You need to trust what your doctor is telling you and follow up with them to see what you need to do.  First though, you have to accept that you are having the problem.  Remember, just because you have a phobia about your health, the pain you are feeling IS real.
