I was wondering. You remember the pet food recall? How fast did the dogs die after eating the tainted foods? I am concerned because without realizing it, my dog has been eating treats from China. Ugh. Oh no. So I'm throwing them out right now, just in case. No they are not recalled but I don't want to take a chance. My dog has been having some everyday since Friday. Anyone know?

  1. They died very slowly. Just like the dogs and cats and other animals on china fur farms. sickos

  2. You can generally tell if your dog is gettig sick by these signs:

    1) They become very lethargic

    2) They lose their appetite

    3) They whimper or whine and never seem comfortable

    4) The have loose stools (pudding consistancy or disrrhea)

    5) They vomit

    6) There's blood in their stool or vomit

The dog does not have to have ALL of these symptoms, but if there's more than 1 symptom (or blood at all) contact your vet for an appointment.

I have moved my dog to homemade food because of all of the recalls (though Science Diet is not a bad food)

PS- A healthy treat for your dog would be a couple kibbles from the food you normally feed. If you want to know healthy treats or recipes contact me and I'll share with you what I know,

  3. The poisoning was from Melamine which is a kind of preservative which should not have been used in the gluten.  The bags were mislabeled and was supposed to have been urea.  The crystals collect in the kidneys and they go into renal failure.  I would not be overly concerned about the treats that have already been fed, as there have been no recent recalls and it was mainly pet food, but I would find a GOOD local pet specialty shop which deals in human grade dog food and they will have wonderful treats for your dog.

  4. Some died pretty quick. I have a friend who's cat was affected and is still sick. He won;t get better as he is in renal failure. Right now fluid treatments and medication are keeping him stable.

Edit: No one can say how much they would have need to have eaten. It just depends on the animal and probably it's overall general health. Wayne my friends cat was 13 and in very good health at the time. The food was his regular diet.
