The double l's in spanish [pronunciation]?

Most people pronounce them as a "y", but then some people [like my friends] pronounce them like a harsh "j" sound, like "llegar" sounds like "zjegar", is this correct, is this a different type of accent?

It depends entirely on the country where the person is from, or where they have learned Spanish.  The intensity of the fricative varies greatly.  I generally put a soft dz on such words, because it's pretty general, and doesn't bother the people to whom I am speaking.

BTW, same with a Y in Spanish....whatever sound you use for ll, is generally the same as the y.

Yes it is. Spanish has a great number of accent variations, depending on the country you're in. You will even find different accents within one country or region.

Your friends are probably Hispanic Americans and speak a Spanish variation coming from Central or South America, where most people pronounce ''y'' as a ''zj'' as you put it.

Spaniards tend to go for the ''y'' sound.

Spanish has different variations of yeismo (the double l)

My Peruvian friends pronounce ll as "y."  Apellido sounds like, "Ah-pay-yee-doh"

In Argentina, it sort of sounds like an "Sh" Ah-pay-she-doh"

Some other countries, they pronounce it like a J as in "jog" "Ah-pay-jee-doh"

It just depends on where your from.  Naturally, the "y" has the same sound as the ll.

How do the L in english sound? ok that twice like ll sound like ye (je) somenthing like that I know the right soung but writing it is kind of hard.Hope I help.
