The drivers’ point of view about the Brazilian Grand Prix (Part 3)
With just a week left for the Brazilian Grand Prix, the drivers and teams are thinking of the best possible strategy for the race.
Paul di Resta
Team Force India’s test driver Paul di Resta is excited about the Brazilian Grand Prix and believes that the track provides a driver with the most fascinating experience. Paul loves driving the Formula 1 car in changing conditions on a versatile track and
he believes that Interlagos is the perfect track for him. He believes that since his team scored a good result at the Korean Grand Prix, the team is more motivated than ever and hopes to win the tight battle for the sixth place in the constructors’ standings.
“Now we're off to Brazil, my first trip to the country, and another new track. I've enjoyed every minute of the season so far and preparing for each event, learning the circuits and getting to know the team. Even though it's a busy part of the year for me with
the DTM championship nearing its close as well it's very exciting to be part of two such dynamic series at this point in time,” said Paul.
Vijay Mallya
Force India’s chairman and team principal Vijay Mallya believes that he is very pleased with his team after the result they produced at the Korean Grand Prix and it was a good come back after a couple of tough races. The team principal praised Tonio Liuzzi
as he was the only Force Indian driver to finish the Korean Grand Prix. Adrian Sutil on the other hand had a comparatively tough weekend as he retired but was looking very good as he overtook many cars and fought his way up the grid before retiring.
Vijay believes that the unpredictable conditions of the Brazilian track might worry the teams because setting up the car in varying conditions becomes very difficult but Force India has a good record in such conditions as Force India was able to score good
results in both Korea and Canada where the conditions were very unpredictable.
The team hopes to bring some aero updates again along with some mechanical changes just to tease the other teams and enable their car to perform at its best. Vijay feels that the team was struggling to pull the maximum potential out of their car at the qualifying
session in Korea therefore the team vows to try its best to secure the best possible result and maintain its sixth place in the constructors’ standings against Williams.
“I hope that Interlagos will be a good track for us. Its lower downforce, which should play to the strengths of the car, and both drivers have performed well at the track in the past,” said Vijay.
Nico Rosberg
Nico Rosberg believes that the Brazilian fans are always fantastic and Interlagos is one of the most enjoyable tracks in the Formula 1 calendar. It is a combination of both technical turning and high speed corners that enables a driver to push as hard as
he can and this is the reason why the drivers are so anxiously waiting for the Brazilian grand prix. Interlagos is at a very high altitude level and therefore the engine has less power as the air is thinner as compared to the rest of the tracks but the grip
level decreases vitally as a result. Driving a low downforce car is a challenge for the drivers but there are good overtaking opportunities on the Brazilian track.
“It was disappointing not to finish the race in Korea from such a strong position but our performance over the weekend was good and we were able to get the most out of the car. It would be nice to continue this and finish the season with strong performances,”
said Nico Rosberg.
